The Science Survey

Jaymie Paredes
Jaymie Paredes is an Assistant Graphic Designer/Layout Editor for ‘The Science Survey’ and a Groups Section Reporter for ‘The Observatory.’ She helps the rest of the Layout Editors compile articles in the newspaper in a coherent manner, and she helps write for the yearbook. She is interested in the way that journalistic writing allows for the spread of ideas, since it provides a medium for people to share information. She finds the different angles of journalistic photography appealing because it demonstrates the presence of different perspectives. Jaymie enjoys spending time with friends and family in her free time, especially at cafes. As part of her ‘alone-time,’ she often draws, paints, and watches Netflix. After school, she participates in extracurricular activities such as the Filipino Culture Club, Stage Crew, and volunteering. Her favorite place in the world is the Philippines because a large portion of her family lives there. She hopes to have the ability to travel to many exotic places in the future. Jaymie plans on studying medicine in college because she wants to be in the medical field, just like her parents. Regardless of what happens in ten years, Jaymie hopes to feel accomplished and content. She hopes to achieve a balance between her career and personal life.
