Afifa Areya is the Chief Graphic Designer and a Staff Reporter of ‘The Science Survey.’ She finds that journalistic writing gives her the ability to present her knowledge of events occurring all around the world in the school community. Outside of school, Afifa really enjoys reading books that fall under the genres of Science Fiction (especially dystopian novels), Historical Fiction, Mystery, and Horror. Her favorite novels include “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood, “The Illustrated Man” by Ray Bradbury, and “The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield. Afifa also spends her leisure time drawing portraits and abstract art. Art allows her to escape reality and paste images into paper that only exists in her head. In college, Afifa plans on studying Astrophysics and minoring in Microbiology or Visual Art.
