Charlotte Zhou, Staff Reporter

Charlotte Zhou is a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey,’ where she writes articles on topics ranging from politics to activism in different facets of society. She is drawn to journalistic writing, because it amplifies underrepresented issues, especially in an objective light. Writing about politics and current events in particular allows for an emphasis on broader societal issues and the impact this has on smaller groups and individuals. She also values journalistic photography, in that it is a way to capture the details and express messages that words cannot. Outside of journalism, Charlotte is on the Public Forum Debate team, where topics on current events and international relations serve as an eye-opener to more pressing issues in the world. She is also on the Mock Trial & Moot Court teams, where she enjoys studying Supreme Court precedents during the competition season and reading justices’ autobiographies in her free time. For this reason, she plans on pursuing law and economics in college, but ultimately hopes to utilize the skills learned through journalism in whichever career path she chooses.
