The Science Survey

Kamran Hirsa, Staff Reporter

Kamran Hirsa is a Content and Proofreading Editor for the ‘The Science Survey,’ where he checks for accuracy in his colleagues’ reporting. What Kamran finds most appealing about journalistic writing is the freedom it gives you to write whatever is on your mind and format it in any way you see fit, as long as it is all relevant to a main idea. Even though journalistic writing can also be creative writing, it also gives you the opportunity to be informative and to teach your reader something they did not know previously. What Kamran finds most appealing about taking photographs that tell a story is that they allow you to portray emotion and setting in a more direct way, one that you most likely cannot fully describe in your writing. It also is a way to compliment your writing in an effective way, instead of including information that can be better seen in a photograph. Some of Kamran’s hobbies and interests outside of school include reading, playing basketball, traveling to different countries and seeing different cultures, and watching movies with family and friends. In college, Kamran hopes to study pre-med, as he wants to pursue neurosurgery as a career path. Kamran still sees himself involving himself in journalistic practices in the future, such as taking photographs of important landmarks and writing about daily experiences or experiences that he has while traveling abroad. Finally, in ten years, Kamran sees himself as a resident studying neurosurgery, hopefully on the course to becoming a doctor.
