The Science Survey

Leann Goldberg, Staff Reporter

Leann Goldberg is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ She thinks journalistic writing is important because it allows the public to stay informed on the events going on around them, and she believes that good journalistic writing can make the public more interested in learning about these things. Leann likes taking photographs that tell a story because they have the ability to evoke an emotional response and peak an interest in the photo’s subject while often reaching an even broader audience than writing. Outside of school, Leann loves to travel, read, and volunteer for causes for which she is passionate. During her summer breaks, she likes to travel and work for groups she cares about. Most frequently, she travels to Israel where her extended family lives and where she used to live. Some of her favorite books are ‘A Tale for the Time Being’ by Ruth Ozeki, ‘The World According to Garp’ by John Irving, and ‘The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat,” by Oliver Sacks. Additionally, she has volunteered for various nonprofits like Books Through Bars, where she helps distribute books to incarcerated people, and Changing the Present, where she worked in Human Resources, and most recently, worked at the JCC Manhattan’s summer camp. While Leann is still unsure of what she wants to pursue later on, she is most interested in psychology and anthropology, and would love to keep improving her writing. Leann hopes to travel a lot more in the future, and hopefully pursue journalism to some extent, as well.
