The Science Survey

Kaitlyn Romanger is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey’ as well as a Groups Reporter for ‘The Observatory’. She interviews students, coaches, and teachers in order to create articles that express their thoughts along with relevant and interesting activities that they indulge in. She wants nothing more than to give people a voice through her writing and capturing simple yet beautiful moments with the camera. Outside of school, she enjoys creative writing, playing sports basketball and softball, and volunteering in her community. She looks forward to studying Psychology and English in college, as she aspires to become a psychiatrist. In ten years, she sees herself with a better understanding of the world and a wiser mindset.

Picketers stand in the cold with thick coats and scarves on in order to fight the problems that Montefiore is facing. “At Montefiore, we currently have a few issues, not just with patient ratios and trying to make sure that the patients get the proper amount of care, but we’re also struggling with hallway patients right now and overcrowding,” said Michelle Gonzalez (not featured in image). “So we’re trying to make sure that every patient in the Bronx has health equity.”

A Puerto Rican from the Bronx, Senior Christina Satina clearly sees that African Americans and Hispanics are minorities in Bronx Science. “I can say that the most challenging part we have to face going into Bronx Science freshman year is the social aspect,” she said. However, she states “one of the reasons I love Bronx Science is because of how accepting people are of other ethnic groups and racial backgrounds.
