Iris Auyeung is a Copy Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ She finds journalism invigorating because of the freedom to write and turn any subject into an engaging piece. Photography, inside and out of journalism, is one of her favorite pastimes because of its ability to capture beautiful moments of life and share them with the public to tell a story. Outside of school, Iris enjoys hiking, coaching tennis, and trying new things. She cares deeply for her community, having founded a mentoring program dedicated to enriching elementary students’ literacy skills. Additionally, she is a member of the Varsity Policy Debate team at Bronx Science, reviews and edits public health policy proposals for journal publication, and partakes in advocacy for cultural preservation and educational equality. She has a passion for studying philosophy and intends to apply it to solve social problems in the world.
