Arian Berisha, Staff Reporter

Arian Berisha is a Copy Chief for ‘The Science Survey,’ helping with quality control and copy-edits, while also writing for the school's newspaper. He enjoys writing articles that discuss the intersection between real-world events and the student body, drawing opinions from Bronx Science students, and giving them an outlet for expression. He believes that journalistic writing and photography work in tandem to the benefit of the audience, where the photos take on the role of capturing the story through vistas of inquiry and evocation. In his free time, he works on his role as a staff reporter for the Perceptron blog, run by Columbia University first-years, discussing the interstices between technology and public policy. Whether it is watching economics lectures or enjoying cooking channels, Arian is occupied with something around him. He is also a varsity member on Model UN and an NHS member for the 2020-2021 school year. In college, Arian plans on studying economics and computer science, while also participating in journalistic clubs in the future.

“Reaching out to other students from the class of 2020 who got accepted into my Early Action college was so incredibly helpful. The supplementary questions were exactly the same this year, so I was able to see successful answers to those questions that other Bronx Science students wrote. Their examples helped me to start thinking out of the box and really be unafraid to include some quirky/out there answers. It also made me feel supported to have them edit and look over what I had written. I loved getting to listen and learn from their experiences, and apply that knowledge to my own application. With some schools around the city closing down due to COVID infections, the Bronx High School of Science remains an example of how there is still potential for safe blended, in-person learning. As I see it, there are little to no changes I would make to the implementations and rules, seriously taken, that the school has put into place.
