Sarah Derkach, Staff Reporter
Sarah Derkach is a Copy Chief for ‘The Science Survey,’ reviewing articles written by students from each subsection of the newspaper. She enjoys the creative freedom that the newspaper provides, allowing students to indulge in writing that is most prevalent and interesting to them, which also produces the most engaging and interesting pieces. She also appreciates the accessibility of the newspaper for all other students, who can support the newspaper staff by reading and sharing the open access articles. Sarah finds the aspect of learning how to create an impactful photo most appealing. Students have the opportunity to practice taking photos, trying out new angles, and capturing different stories that convey different emotions to the viewer. Some of Sarah’s interests outside of school include playing volleyball, practicing the guitar, traveling, and snowboarding. Beyond high school, she is interested in pursuing a career that bridges her interests in law and economics. In college, Sarah hopes to continue doing social science and economic research as well as participating in Mock Trial and Moot Court. As journalism requires the ability to write persuasively, Sarah will continue to use this skill in her future career.
