Julia Sperling, Staff Reporter
Julia Sperling is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ She is drawn to journalistic writing because of how journalism handles the microscopic and the macroscopic; journalism mixes personal and authentic stories with reports on major events. Photojournalism, specifically, interests Julia because of how a single frame can portray a complete story. Her interest in writing also leads Julia to be a Senior Editor of ‘Dynamo,’ Bronx Science’s literary magazine, an editor of ‘Free to be We,’ a Project FIRE publication at Bronx Science, and to have participated in various writing conferences. She is a Scholastic National Medalist for poetry, and has poetry published in various magazines. Outside of school, Julia can be found writing or dancing every day in her pre-professional ensemble. She is not yet committed to a specific area of study in college or career, but is interested in Dance, English, Creative Writing, Philosophy, Psychology, and Race and Gender, and the intersection of such topics.
