The Science Survey

Aissata Barry
Aissata Barry is a News Editor for ‘The Science Survey.' She enjoys writing and researching about political events and the impact that they have upon the world. She finds journalistic writing to be appealing because it connects people to stories from all over the world. She finds photography to be an essential element of an article because it captivates readers’ attention and ensures they will not have to endure a long piece without being able to visualize it. At Bronx Science, she is on the policy debate team, senior council, and anti-racist coalition. Being a part of these initiatives has given her a deep appreciation and respect for how bright and diverse the Bronx Science community is. Outside of school, Aissata loves to listen to music, and her favorite artists are ChloexHalle, Sza, and Rina Sawayama. She also enjoys watching films on Netflix that showcase the beauty and struggle that comes with life. Some of her favorite films are Moonlight, Atlantics, and Snowpiercer. In the future, she hopes to become a lawyer or journalist and has worked towards that goal by completing a criminal justice course at John Jay University’s College 4 Now program. Also, this past summer, she completed a photojournalism internship at the Bronx Documentary Center, which sparked her interest in becoming a journalist.
