The Science Survey

Willa Huber, Staff Reporter

Willa Huber is a Copy Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ She enjoys journalistic writing that is creative, informative, and uses strong narratives to depict people and legacies that are often discounted as obsolete. She recognizes the importance of using photography to parallel compelling writing, and she enjoys photographs that speak for themselves and demand the reader’s attention. Outside of school, Willa can be found at her dance studio, with daily classes and rehearsals consuming the majority of her free time. In the in-between moments, Willa enjoys engrossing herself in her favorite books such as Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous, and Jeannette Walls’ The Glass Castle. She loves reading about different perspectives on life as well as experiencing them for herself while traveling around the world. In college, Willa hopes to integrate her love for writing with her passion for biological sciences, but she remains open to other interests that may arise.

This photograph was taken on February 1st, 1980, while Stevie Nicks was on tour for 'Tusk.' It features her playing the tambourine, an instrument that she picked up during her time with Fritz, in order to give her something to do on stage. She stuck with playing it throughout her career, making it an iconic part of her image.
