The Science Survey

Sophie Malki, Staff Reporter

Sophie Malki is a Senior Staff Reporter for The Science Survey and an Academics Staff Reporter for The Observatory. She most enjoys getting to know her fellow students better through interviews, as well as reporting on the details of lesser known aspects of student life at Bronx Science. The most intriguing and satisfying aspects of journalistic photography to her are accurately capturing people’s emotions in a photo and figuring out the best way to compose a shot. Since this is her first year as a reporter, she is excited to continue learning more about how to improve her abilities in journalistic writing and photography. She also has a passion for singing and has been a member of the Bronx Science Chorus since freshman year. Outside of school, Sophie enjoys creating programs to bring teens together as a leader in her Jewish youth group, listening to the Hamilton soundtrack, and exploring different areas of New York City. Her favorite book series is Harry Potter. Over the summer, she participated in biological research; she plans to major in biology in college. She also hopes to write for her college’s newspaper and to continue taking photographs. In the future, she plans to become clinical or translational researcher, or a doctor.
