The Science Survey

Lucas Melendez, Staff Reporter

Lucas Melendez is an Arts & Entertainment Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ He believes that journalistic writing is a vital means of communication, as it has the ability to raise awareness about interesting or important topics that may otherwise go unknown, and he sees journalistic photography as a key way to convey this information quickly. Luke enjoys trivia, often competing in tournaments with Bronx Science's Quizbowl team. He is also an avid video game world-builder, even constructing fictional languages to accompany his worlds. An enthusiastic consumer of all media, Luke particularly enjoys coming of age stories, from books such as ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ and ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ to movies such as ‘Ferris Bueller's Day Off’ and ‘Juno.’ He intends on studying ancient history and archaeology in college, with ambitions of becoming an expert in those fields. He wishes to spread awareness of these topics, either through education or journalism.
