Bronx Science has over 100 clubs and activities that each appeal to an aspect of student identity, whether it is favorite movies, future career paths, cultural practices, or anything else you can think of. One of the more unique groups is the Gardening Club, which helps take care of the Bronx Science garden and the various plants around the school, supplemented by lessons about the environment. At an academically rigorous school like Bronx Science, the Gardening Club provides the perfect opportunity to unwind and connect with nature while learning more about local horticulture.

About the Contributors
Allegra Lief, Staff Reporter
Allegra Lief is an Editor-in-Chief and an art critic for ‘The Science Survey,’ and is responsible for the review and revision of her peers’ articles prior to publication. Through her writing, Allegra aims to report on broader political trends through hard hitting news pieces and editorials, and convey her love of art by reviewing relevant art exhibitions throughout the city. She relishes the chance to share her perspective and directly connect with readers – influencing them to engage with opportunities, like seeing an art exhibition, or through reading about pressing topics that would otherwise not be in their orbit. Allegra also finds great value in photojournalism and its unique power to capture intricate details and complex emotions through visuals, in a way that words alone cannot. Beyond writing for ‘The Science Survey,’ Allegra is also the President of the Legal Society and is on the Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team. In her free time, you can find Allegra curled up with a good book, walking around the city with friends, or exploring an art museum or gallery with anyone who will accompany her. While her interests remain diverse, Allegra plans to study International Relations, Political Science, and Art History in college. Regardless of her future career path, Allegra hopes to intertwine her love of journalism with anything she might pursue.
Madison Kang, Staff Reporter
Madison Kang is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey,’ where she writes about topics that spark her interest. To her, journalism is a way to shed light on injustices through both factual reporting and editorial insight, and to explore ideas that often go unnoticed in everyday life. Madison views journalism in the digital age as a form of activism made concrete by words immortalized on the internet. Outside of school, you can find her on the fencing strip with the Girls’ Varsity Fencing team, teaching a class on neuroscience or grammar rules, or visiting cafes across the boroughs in search of the “Best Strawberry Matcha Latte.” In the future, Madison hopes to combine political science, psychology, and linguistics, in order to explore political issues from multiple angles and help to bridge divides between opposing viewpoints.
Alina Povelikin, Staff Reporter
Alina Povelikin is a Content and Proofreading Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ She enjoys journalistic writing because it facilitates action. Individuals cannot advocate for a cause if they are not adequately informed of the situation. Alina also enjoys taking journalistic photographs because they enhance readers’ understanding of a subject. She is a firm believer that, sometimes, visuals speak louder than words. In her free time, Alina likes to paint acrylic landscapes, choreograph dance routines with her friends, and learn new languages. She plans to study International Relations and Foreign Affairs in college. She also hopes to become a foreign service officer and to write travel journalism in the future.
