The Science Survey

Raisa Alam, Staff Reporter

Raisa Alam is a Groups Section Editor for the Observatory Yearbook and a Staff Reporter for The Science Survey. Journalistic writing and photography allow Raisa to uncover and depict stories vividly.  Most of all, she enjoys the thrill of capturing and viewing timeless photos with unique compositions. She was inspired to pursue journalism after viewing photos depicting the ravages of war and poverty, and by reading The New York Times. Outside of photojournalism, Raisa spends much of her time researching Alzheimer’s disease in the lab, tutoring students of all ages in English, Mathematics, and Spanish, watching japanese anime, as well as reading a variety of books from fantasy to philosophy. She plans to major in Health with a minor in Journalism, in order to pursue her dream to travel abroad to aid other people’s lives as a ‘doctor without borders.’
