Jehiel Butt is a News Editor for ‘The Science Survey’ and an Athletics Section Staff Reporter for ‘The Observatory.’ Jehiel was not a fan of writing in elementary school, and found himself reluctantly typing up essay after essay. However, the summer after fifth grade, Jehiel decided to put some effort into practicing writing cohesively, and found it to be a liberating process, where he could freely express himself. Jehiel believes this is true for most artistic forms including singing as well, something he practices regularly. Since this discovery, Jehiel has lived by the principle that effort is the only determinant of success. At The Bronx High School of Science, Jehiel enjoys debating in Public Forum Debate, competing in science competitions with Science Olympiad, and performing in concerts like the Talent Show. No matter the path he makes for himself, he knows that the skills he has learned in the Journalism class are invaluable and will never be forgotten.
