Celebrating Valentine’s Day at Bronx Science

Cupid’s Bash at Bronx Science was an excuse for students to cut loose and let love bloom!

On Valentine’s Day at Bronx Science, love was in the air! February 14th, 2025 was when the school held its annual “Cupid’s Bash” in honor of the holiday. Students gathered in the cafeteria during their lunch periods to celebrate the spirit of love. There were fun games where students could win prizes, and an activity similar to speed dating where you could make new friends. There were also Valentine’s Day themed photo booths. Volunteers handed out cookies and candies, and students received paper carnations as gifts from friends and admirers. It was a lively event that celebrated the bonds that connect us all throughout the school.

Anna Hunt is an Arts and Entertainment editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ While this is her first year, she enjoys telling a story through journalistic writing. Anna likes interviewing people about their perspective because she finds it fascinating. She wants to do more investigative journalism in the future. Photography is also very interesting to Anna because she wants to capture feelings when she takes pictures, to capture the essence of the moment. Anna enjoys reading fantasy and realistic fiction, as well as playing video games. She particularly enjoys the Percy Jackson series and the Artemis Fowl series. She also likes playing the trumpet in her music class. Someday, Anna wants to be a journalist at a major publication, and tell the stories of average people. If that fails, maybe she will go into graphic design, or music. Overall, Anna has a passion to create.

Gigi Liu, Staff Reporter

Gigi Liu is a Student Life Section Editor and a Graphic Designer for ‘The Observatory’ yearbook, as well as a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey’. She finds journalism to be an interesting field, as she enjoys reading from different perspectives on a topic, learning new things as her eyes move across the page. Gigi also admires the amount of effort and details that authors put into their works. She believes that photography is vital to the world, as it allows for a certain moment to be captured or evoke certain opinions or emotions in the viewer. After a long day of school work, Gigi enjoys drawing on her iPad and reading thriller books. Currently, Gigi’s favorite movie is Fight Club, and her favorite book is The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix. She enjoys entertainment that has a mystery to it and keeps her on edge. In the future, Gigi hopes to become a nutritionist or a pharmacist. She wishes to better the health of the people in the world so they are able to experience the world in the best condition they can be. Along with this, Gigi wants to also pursue a career in digital art, as she wants to express herself to the world.

Nora Gupta, Staff Reporter

Nora Gupta is an Editor-in-Chief and a Chief Graphic Designer for ‘The Observatory’ yearbook as well as a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey.’ She is also an awarded and published student poet and the author of the upcoming chapbook Decipher the Smoke. She advocates for artistic expression and writing sovereignty while stressing the importance of “painting a picture with words,” a mantra that she follows with a disciple’s devotion. Nora loves to use imagery and refined rhetoric in her writing, along with giving character to the people, objects, or events that she writes about. She views journalism as a healthy (and vital) part of a community — allowing greater community transparency and personality. Nora aspires to pursue writing as a future career.

Albiona Leka, Staff Reporter

Albiona Leka is a Chief Graphic Designer and a Managing Editor for ‘The Observatory’ yearbook and a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey’ newspaper. She finds journalistic writing to be enjoyable because she recognizes that it can be used to inform the public about various topics in a fun yet informative way. Photography is another source of entertainment that Albiona indulges in because it gives her a chance to tell a story without the use of words. Outside of school, Albionaloves to draw, listen to music, and play card games with her family and friends. It was always in her nature to help and educate others. Consequently, Albiona has become interested in the medical field and plans to pursue a future in this field when she begins her college career.

Kathy Le, Staff Reporter

Kathy Le is an Editor-in-Chief and Chief Graphic Designer for ‘The Observatory’ yearbook, where she enjoys experimenting with playful, approachable language on well-decorated spreads. She greatly appreciates the creative freedoms in exploring original ideas, writing, photography, interviews, and design in a group of talented students in order to produce a book that her peers can forever cherish. Meanwhile, as a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey’ newspaper, she prefers extensive research for engaging and thoughtful long-form journalism. She greatly admires journalists who can use literary techniques to evoke vivid imagery and emotion while documenting objectivity. In her free time, Kathy can be found drawing or reading fiction, activities that she wishes to keep as hobbies while pursuing a future in psychology.
