The Bronx Science Girls’ Varsity Basketball team is one of the best in the Bronx; for the past few years, they’ve consistently been in the top three teams of the division. The team performed very well during the 2024-2025 season: they won 8 out of the 14 games that they played during the season. Their season came to an end in the playoffs when they lost against Brooklyn Tech.
One notable aspect of the team this year is the age of its players; while most varsity sports teams consist largely of juniors and seniors, the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team has 6 underclassmen this year. “It’s been sort of a rebuilding process,” said team captain Cece Beauchamp ’25. With less experienced players, it’s important to train them in the fundamentals to improve their skills and overall performance. But having younger team members has an advantage: the next few years will likely prove successful for the Wolverines due to the team’s potential to improve. And even now, due to a combination of teamwork, skill, and grit, the Wolverines are succeeding.
