The Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team Has a Great Winter 2024-2025 Season!

The Girls’ Varsity Basketball team showed off their skill and athleticism through their amazing performances.

The Bronx Science Girls’ Varsity Basketball team is pictured here with their head coach and one of their team managers. The Bronx Science Girls’ Varsity Basketball team is one of the best in the Bronx; for the past few years, they’ve consistently been in the top three teams of the division. The team performed very well during the 2024-2025 season: they won 8 out of the 14 games that they played during the season. Their season came to an end in the playoffs when they lost against Brooklyn Tech.

One notable aspect of the team this year is the age of its players; while most varsity sports teams consist largely of juniors and seniors, the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team has 6 underclassmen this year. “It’s been sort of a rebuilding process,” said team captain Cece Beauchamp ’25. With less experienced players, it’s important to train them in the fundamentals to improve their skills and overall performance. But having younger team members has an advantage: the next few years will likely prove successful for the Wolverines due to the team’s potential to improve. And even now, due to a combination of teamwork, skill, and grit, the Wolverines are succeeding.

Emilia Linnemann is a Content and Proofreading Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ She enjoys writing both creatively and analytically, weaving together fact and opinion, when appropriate, to tell the stories of people, places, and events. Emilia enjoys writing on a wide variety of topics. She views every headline as an opportunity to dive deeper into a story and to gain new appreciation for the world. Through her experiences in studying and practicing journalistic photography, she views it as an integral part of being able to reach the audience, in order to create a cohesive article. Outside of writing for ‘The Science Survey,’ Emilia is a huge sports fan; she particularly loves Formula 1, Soccer, and Baseball. An avid reader, some of her favorite books and stories are The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. Emilia plans on majoring in the fields of Political Science and Philosophy for her undergraduate degree, and she hopes to later attend law school.

Marley Lee-Kang is a Copy Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ Marley believes that a good journalistic piece should be able to captivate readers from beginning to end. He believes tthat the use of visual representation is equally important as writing, given that photographs can help readers to visualize the setting. Marley wishes to use writing as one of his catalysts in order to produce works of art. With the hopes of going into the field of medicine after college, Marley wishes to sharpen his writing skills in the years to come.
