Over the years, Bronx Science has made a name for itself in athletics through its Boys’ Varsity Badminton team. The team has been named City Champions in Fall 2018, Semi-Finalists in Fall 2019, undefeated in Fall 2020, and Semi-Finalists in Fall 2021. The Boys’ Varsity Badminton team has recently concluded their Fall 2024 season, finishing with a record of 8 wins and 4 losses. Their playoff game was on November 6th, 2024 against New Utrecht High School. This year was marked with incredible teamwork, skill, and determination. From intense matches against rival schools to standout performances by Bronx Science team players, they have demonstrated great growth and sportsmanship. This Fall 2024 season was not short of achievement either, with the team finishing in the city’s top eight. Both in doubles and singles, the team dominated in their rounds. Highlights include multiple victories in the semifinals, the consistent dominance of the doubles teams, and the addition of new members ready to carry the team forward. The season not only showcased the hard work and dedication but also brought the Bronx Science community together, in order to celebrate their achievements on and off the court. Let’s congratulate them on a great season!

Alicia Yue is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ Alicia is passionate about journalism and the beauty of writing because she finds that it helps her to delve deeply into a topic, and to hone in on her skills and understanding of this topic. Furthermore, she finds the process of perfecting a journalistic piece to be incredibly satisfying. Alicia believes that journalism is a crucial way in our daily lives to keep the public informed about important issues and to spread messages to communities as well. Journalism helps to keep records of the past, as well. She is also very passionate about photography because through photos, one is able to capture moments, experiences, and emotions, all in one frame. Whether it is photography or painting, Alicia appreciates all artistic endeavors. Outside of school, Alicia has a deep connection with traveling around the world to scenic places, whether the destination is hot or cold. In her free time, Alicia hangs out with her friends, and she loves going biking, swimming, and playing with her dog. She also plans to possibly pursue sociology, public policy, or anthropology in college. Alicia is also hoping to incorporate journalism and writing into her future endeavors, and she is planning on continuing to pursue a path of writing for the foreseeable future.
Sidney Lin, Staff Reporter
Sidney Lin is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ Sidney cherishes the chance to edit her peers’ articles in all sections of the newspaper and contribute to the process that takes them from a great first draft to a phenomenal final product. Along the way, she looks for the opportunity to hone her own written word. Sidney believes that journalism can be a powerful avenue to empathy. The investigative process of journalism puts her into the shoes of her subjects to provide a more nuanced account of their successes and challenges while avoiding unintentional bias in reporting. Sidney’s interest in photography has also grown alongside journalistic writing. In the future, she would like to further cultivate her use of photography in order to capture stories best depicted by a single moment in time. Outside of school, Sidney can be found engaging in research, community service, traveling to new cities and exploring world cultures, and baking. In college, Sidney is interested in finding solutions to public health dilemmas through technological innovation, economics, and public policy. She is eager to take her experiences on ‘The Science Survey’ with her to the official publication of her next institution.
Praise Uhunmwangho, Staff Reporter
Praise Uhunmwangho is a Managing Editor and Advisory Editor for ‘The Science Survey,’ part of the Editors-in-Chief Division. Praise is dedicated to uplifting student’s voices, bringing light to underrepresented topics, and diving into relevant political discourse through her journalistic work. Journalism is one of Praise’s biggest passions because she enjoys researching and sharing her discoveries with others. She loves photography because it enables her to capture emotional moments in people’s lives. As a third-year member of their school’s Congressional Debate team, Praise often practices her argumentative skills through compelling speeches and explores a variety of current events issues during weekend tournaments, both skills which assist in refining her journalistic writing. When not typing away for her newest article or preparing for a tournament, Praise can be found reading classic novels, watching TV shows, or tutoring kids. Praise aspires to study medicine in the future, and she hase engaged in several research programs throughout her high school career. Praise is currently interested in pursuing a degree in radiology or neuroscience.
Allegra Mark, Staff Reporter
Allegra Mark is an Arts and Entertainment Editor for ‘The Science Survey’. She loves all forms of writing, particularly journalistic and creative writing, because writing helps with expressing viewpoints and opinions to the world in the writer’s own form and methods. There is no “right answer” on how a piece is written. She uses journalistic photography in order to create clear and vivid messages and ideas that would not be expressed through writing alone. Some of her hobbies outside journalism include performing, drawing, practicing her pieces on the Speech and Debate team, and spending time with people she loves. Allegra plans to pursue a career in journalism, creative writing, photography, or acting.
Isaiah Muniz, Staff Reporter
Isaiah Muniz is a Copy Chief Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ He enjoys pieces that creatively spotlight people and organizations that are typically glossed over in mainstream media coverage. He enjoys how journalism is a source of creativity, inspiration, and education. Isaiah appreciates how photojournalism is a great way to gather specific and meaningful details about a particular situation or event. Throughout his writing, Isaiah enjoys sharing his hobbies and interests such as community activism and service, sports, music, and politics. Alongside writing journalistic articles, Isaiah also serves as an editor of Dynamo, Bronx Sciences’s literary magazine, is a member of Speech and Debate, and also spends time creating music on his clarinet. His most likely career paths include public service and journalism, and he plans to pursue a political science degree in college.
