Every year, Bronx Science holds several open houses to introduce the school to prospective students. The largest one is held each October. This academic year, on October 15th, 2024, eighth graders and their families visited Bronx Science to get a sense of the school and its student culture. Current students volunteered to discuss their experiences in different classes, electives, clubs, teams, and more. Visiting families had the opportunity to walk through the school freely, step into any classroom, and ask students any questions they may have. Bronx Science students and teachers occupied many classrooms, allowing prospective students and families to understand what the school is like from a current student’s perspective.

Sarah also finds the focal point of journalistic photography to be an appealing aspect as it can alter the story you are trying to tell. In her free time, Sarah enjoys watching mystery movies and sitcoms. She has always been fond of writing and hopes to pursue a career in filmmaking as a writer or director.
Krisha Soni, Staff Reporter
Krisha Soni is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.' She loves storytelling and journalistic pieces that bring their subject matter to life; in her opinion, there’s nothing more valuable. Journalism, and its ability to depict aspects of the world through different lenses on paper, has intrigued her since she was young, and she hopes to create pieces that live up to that standard. In addition, Krisha finds photography to be essential for journalism, as she believes that it fully fleshes out an article and is the final step to bring the reader into the shoes of someone experiencing the subject matter. Outside of school, Krisha enjoys reading, baking, and playing basketball. She can be found making cookies and listening to podcasts in her home in Queens. Although she is still looking through possible career options, she loves astrophysics and history and wishes to eventually work in either of those fields.
Nora Torok, Staff Reporter
Nora Torok is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.' At the young age of eight, Nora developed a passion for journalism. It was not long until she shaped her life around this prospect, following in the steps of her many journalistic idols such as Scott Pelley and Leslie Stahl. Nora hopes to use her position to write articles that uplift and inform her readers. Nora is also a current member of Bronx Science Student Organization’s Wolverine TV, teaching her the value of using a camera to capture a story. In her free time, she likes listening to various types of music and expanding her record collection. She attends a first amendment values class at Barnard College and from there, has learned the value of expressing ideas to apprise the greater population. Nora strives for the future opportunity to not only inform the public of specific events but to also provide reasoning as to why it matters. She wishes to build a career based on giving people the tools to better understand their world.
