On Thursday, June 13th, 2024, Bronx Science held its annual Earth Day Fair in the school’s courtyard. Activities included a clothing swap, trivia, and tug of war. There were also sustainable activities like painting reusable burlap bags and a solar oven demonstration. Gardening club made a contribution in the form of sharing their knowledge with interested students. These activities were a great way for students to increase climate awareness and have fun along the way.

Olive Forman-Sarno is a Copy Chief for ‘The Science Survey.' She enjoys journalistic writing because she believes that writing an article is about finding what’s true and sharing it with the world -- she has an admiration for the work of muckrakers. Olive finds journalistic photography appealing because anything can be a story, and she intends to capture it, whether it’s a simple sporting event or a political rally. While she does not yet know what she will study in college, Olive is interested in a wide variety of subjects and always wants to learn more. Her hobbies include figure skating, playing the guitar, and making metal jewelry.

Mariam Samake is a Chief Graphic Designer and a Copy Chief for ‘The Observatory’ yearbook. She is also a Staff Reporter for 'The Science Survey.' She enjoys writing stories that inform readers about current events. Outside of journalism, Mariam enjoys art, graphic design, journaling, editing and also photography. In college, Mariam is hoping to pursue a field involving business, law, or economics. However, she will continue to pursue her interests in journalism, photography, and art.
