‘Persona 5 Strikers,’; an action role-playing game (RPG) made by Altus, released on February 20th, 2020, has been one of the most anticipated new video games in 2021.

The adage “there are two sides to every coin” is a fun one to use, and it can be used quite well to describe the games in the Persona franchise. There might be a silent protagonist, but Persona’s riveting gameplay transcends the small amount of dialogue spoken by your avatar.

Persona 5 Strikers is an action role-playing game (RPG) made by Altus, released on February 20th, 2020, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Windows platforms. It is a crossover between the Warriors franchise and Persona 5, and it has been released around six months after the events of the original Persona 5. Persona 5 Strikers has received mostly favorable reviews from critics, and the game has sold over 1.3 million copies as of April 2021.

If you have played Persona before or have played role-playing games before, Persona 5 Strikers is the game for you. It would be best to play the original version Persona 5 before starting Persona 5 Strikers, as Persona 5 Strikers is based on the original Persona 5 released in 2017.

The best way to learn about a game is to either play it yourself or watch someone else play it. .  The mesh of great RPG action and fast gameplay common in hack and slash games is the video game company Altus’ forte. The hack and slash combat loses out on strategy, but the battles are still fun, as you prepare for a barrage, after striking key points, first.

After the events delineated in the original Persona 5 video game, the Phantom Thieves of Hearts in Persona 5 Strikers, a group of vigilantes, including the main protagonist Joker, plan to go on summer vacation. Lavenza, Joker’s attendant in the Velvet Room, a room in between consciousness and subconsciousness, warns him of a potential calamity. The next day, the group goes out to buy supplies for their camping trip, taking the advice of EMMA, an AI known for its accurate predictions. They pass by an event being hosted by an idol called Alice Hiiragi. She gives Joker a card to her “Wonderland,” which is accessed by using EMMA. When the group enters the  “Wonderland,” they are transported to the Metaverse and are attacked by Shadows, the main monsters in the Persona games.  This is only the start of a complex and interesting story that reveals Altus’ growth over the last few years.

A change from the original Persona 5 video game is that the battles are now done in real-time instead of being turn-based. I recommend that you set the difficulty level to ”Easy’ if you have not played something like Dynasty Warriors, given that Persona 5 Strikers takes elements from Dynasty Warriors in terms of its game-play. The music in Persona 5 Strikers complements the intense moments in the video game, and it is another addition to the amazing music already existing in the franchise with the original Persona 5 video game.

The idea of Persona 5 Strikers is interesting, as the human psyche itself is complex. Therefore, making different Persona 5 Strikers with backstories is quite a task for Altus, given this new iteration of their classic game. The Persona franchise does have manga (a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels) mainly sold in Japan, as well as an animation that can be viewed on Crunchyroll.

The Persona franchise is a spin-off the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, which the video game company Altus also owns, and many of the developers who worked on Shin Megami Tensei helped to make Persona. Shin Megami Tensei V is set to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2021, which will help both franchises to grow.

If you purchase Persona 5 Strikers,  you will not be disappointed with its stunning gameplay, graphics, and music.
