“It is true that the line is long, but the pastries make this place a haven for my taste buds. It’s one of a kind!” said Luis Lopez ’19.
His creations are otherworldly, inspiring people to look at pastries differently. One of his most famous creations is the cronut which is a croissant doughnut pastry a delicious fervor for people who enjoy croissants and crave a doughnut, so getting this pastry allows them to enjoy a doughnut and croissant in one. ‘TIME Magazine’ even named cronuts to be one of the twenty-five greatest inventions of 2013. The cronuts do tend to run out very quickly, so when you pass by his bakery, go in and grab one on your way before they are all gone. His process of coming up with new pastries started with his desire to make croissants taste better. He accomplished this by making many flavors of croissants available in his bakery using his unique and natural ingredients. And, with the help of his four employees, he created a line of pastries unique to his bakery. These pastries have captured the taste buds of many.
Another one of his most famous pastries is the chocolate shot, made out of mouth-watering chocolate chip cookie cups with cold milk poured into the cup in front of you, the customer. This new invention came to Chef Dominique Ansel when he decided that, instead of dipping cookies into milk, why not just pour milk into a cup made out of chocolate chip cookie so that customers could enjoy both in one?
“The shot was amazing; I loved the taste of milk with the cookie, and the cookie melted in my mouth. It was so delicious. I would definitely go back for more,” said Elton Moy ’19. The famous chocolate shots along with the cronuts have caused long lines to form in front of the store, but there are seats to relax in while you wait for your turn. There’s even a place for instagrammers to get a nice picture of the pastry with a colorful, floral background. “It is true that the line is long, but the pastries make this place a haven for my taste buds. It’s one of a kind!” said Luis Lopez ’19. Lopez went on to explain that a simple bite of the eclair left him wanting more. Dominique Ansel Bakery is affordable overall, even if some of the pastries can be a bit pricey. Regardless, the pastries are definitely worth it, and you will definitely be left wanting more.
