The Science Survey

Julia Sperling
Julia Sperling is a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey’ and a Group Section Editor for ‘The Observatory.’ She is drawn to journalistic writing because of how journalism handles both the microscale and the macroscale; journalism mixes personal and authentic stories of those interviewed with reports on major events. Photojournalism, specifically, interests Julia because of how photography can portray a complete story in a single frame. Her interest in writing also lead Julia to be a Junior Editor of Dynamo, Bronx Science’s literary magazine and to participate in conferences such as the Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference. Outside of school, Julia can be found taking dance class almost every day or listening to music. She is not set on a specific area of study in college, but is contemplating studying Psychology or Dance, and is planning on working on her college’s newspaper.
