The Science Survey

Olivia Chen
Olivia Chen is the Graphic Designer/Layout Editor for ‘The Science Survey’ and an Academics Reporter for ‘The Observatory’. She assists the Chief Layout Editor on Adobe InDesign and making sure that the newspaper looks as professional as possible. Chen enjoys writing articles that express her own perspective while respecting others’ through accurate quotations. In her opinion, a well taken photo can be much more impactful than words. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. When Olivia is not studying or doing schoolwork, she enjoys reading modern fiction and catching up on shows like ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Peaky Blinders,’ and ‘Sherlock.’ Some of her favorite books include ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘All the Light We Cannot See,’ and ‘The Hobbit.’ She also attends college art classes at Parsons on the weekend and enjoys meeting her mentors from the Wave program. While Olivia is currently undecided in what major she wishes to pursue, she is interested in furthering her education in business or physics. Subsequently, she hopes that she can pursue jobs such as stockbroking or engineering in her future. That being said, she will continue to use her photography and graphic design skills as she is considering on starting her own blog through media platforms such as Instagram.
