Bronx Science Alumni Day 2025

This event witnessed an impressive turnout, with graduates from every decade since the 1940s showing up to commemorate their high school years. Many visitors invited family and friends to relive their fondest memories alongside them, making the day an unforgettable one for everyone.

“Wow, it’s been ages!” “How have you been?” “It’s so great to see you again!” These are the phrases that escaped from Bronx Science alumni’s mouths as they reacquainted themselves with one another recently on Sunday, June 1st, 2025 for Bronx Science’s annual Alumni Day. Old friends reminisced over shared classes, homerooms, and inside jokes, laughing like not a single day had passed them by. Others marveled at the changes their alma mater had undergone, from the pristine, white Manne Institute popping up across the courtyard to food trucks now lining the streets in front of the school. Green and yellow balloon arches stood in front of the school’s entrance, swaying in the wind and greeting the glistening eyes of enthusiastic alumni. The main lobby transformed into a sea of green National Honor Society t-shirts as volunteering students helped to check people in.

An older alumnus guided his grandson eagerly around the school, pointing to classrooms and smiling warmly, as though each space unearthed a hidden memory. There was a photo booth, a school swag store, a jazz band performance, and a robotics station set up for alumni to interact with. Visitors could also indulge in an extravagant catered lunch and a guided tour of the planetarium. This year’s Alumni Day was a huge success. If you are an alumnus, we hope to see you at next year’s Alumni Day!

Individuals cannot advocate for a cause if they are not adequately informed of the situation. Alina also enjoys taking journalistic photographs because they enhance readers’ understanding of a subject. She is a firm believer that, sometimes, visuals speak louder than words. In her free time, Alina likes to paint acrylic landscapes, choreograph dance routines with her friends, and learn new languages. She plans to study International Relations and Foreign Affairs in college. She also hopes to become a foreign service officer and to write travel journalism in the future.

Fei Ji, Staff Reporter

Fei Ji is a Chief Graphic Designer and a Copy Chief for ‘The Observatory’ yearbook, and a Staff Reporter for ‘The Science Survey.’ Fei finds journalism to be fascinating because through words, he can combine real world events with what is happening within the Bronx Science community. Fei finds photography to be interesting because of its ability to capture a specific moment in time, through colorful, wordless detail. Outside of school, Fei has many hobbies, but he mainly enjoys reading books and playing basketball in his free time. In the future, Fei would like to work in the fields of electrical engineering and cybersecurity.

Isaiah Muniz, Staff Reporter

Isaiah Muniz is a Copy Chief Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ He enjoys pieces that creatively spotlight people and organizations that are typically glossed over in mainstream media coverage. He enjoys how journalism is a source of creativity, inspiration, and education. Isaiah appreciates how photojournalism is a great way to gather specific and meaningful details about a particular situation or event. Throughout his writing, Isaiah enjoys sharing his hobbies and interests such as community activism and service, sports, music, and politics. Alongside writing journalistic articles, Isaiah also serves as an editor of Dynamo, Bronx Sciences’s literary magazine, is a member of Speech and Debate, and also spends time creating music on his clarinet. His most likely career paths include public service and journalism, and he plans to pursue a political science degree in college.

Morium Khan is a Content and Proofreading Editor for ‘The Science Survey’. She is responsible for going over and fact-checking other articles before they are published. Morium views journalism as representing a person’s thoughts and experiences that make them a person in words. She has always been impressed by how creative authors get to express their thoughts, just as with a work of art at a museum where you contemplate it in order to figure out the underlying meaning. Ever since she was younger, Morium has always been amazed at how much journalistic photography communicates in ways that words cannot. She likes to spend her spare time reading and crocheting, and although she enjoys writing journalistic articles, she hopes to pursue a career in the medical field.

Rida Nuamah, Staff Reporter

Rida Nuamah is a Managing Editor and Advisory Editor in the Editor-in-Chief division for ‘The Science Survey,’ and she enjoys writing about arts and entertainment. She finds journalistic writing appealing because it gives her the freedom to write about different topics. Taking photos is also a great interest of hers, as she believes that photographs play an important role in preserving stories. Rida enjoys reading, writing, and going to exhibitions with her friends. She would like to study meteorology in the future.

Vanessa Encarnacion, Staff Reporter

Vanessa Encarnacion is a Managing Editor and Advisory Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ She enjoys the story-telling aspects of journalistic writing along with its ability to provide new perspectives on the world that we think we know. She finds photography to represent perfect time-capsules of important moments, and considers it to be one of the most precise types of art. Outside of journalism, Vanessa enjoys exploring other art forms, such as film and music. She plans to study finance in college.
