Bronx Science students are known for taking initiative. Whether it is organizing a climate strike, or joining the national march in support of gun control laws, we have a renowned passion for public activism. That’s why it comes as no surprise to see an influx in the amount of seniors employed at a political consulting firm, Meridian Strategies, in the past few months.

Meridian Strategies is a New York City-based company that provides an array of services, such as media consulting, advertising, and public affairs advising. As one of the most prominent firms on the political consulting landscape, the company has turned its attention to the next generation.

One student, Nesim (Niso) Nahmiyas ’20, has risen through the ranks of Meridian Strategies, starting as an intern, and is now in the position of campaign manager. As such an essential member, he is proud to be a leader for such a devoted team of students. “We have proven time and time again that the youth really are the future, and that we are the best firm in the state,” Nahmiyas said.

Meridian has partnered with an extensive list of politicians, including Aravella Simotas, Michael Miller, and Elizabeth Crowley. Open to campaigning for potential congressmen, district attorneys, assemblymen, and numerous other positions, the company has cemented itself among the top political consulting firms in New York.

With a staggering amount of student employees, Meridian has instilled a sense of professionalism within the up-and-coming generation. Bronx Science, specifically, has been a source of Meridan’s most dedicated and essential employees.

Managers at Meridian Strategies admit that the work can be time consuming, but say that they have garnered valuable work experience. “Being a manager of the team, I have gained a lot of experience while working to recruit, schedule, and organize these races,” Pinkey Lam ’20 said.

The managers attribute their teamwork and success to being familiar with each other from the halls of Bronx Science. “With all of the managers also balancing being full-time students and work, there is a strong sense of camaraderie on the team, which is why we work so well together,” Nahmiyas said.

The grit and grind of hard work pushes the managers to be professional in every sense of the word. “[It] gives us the motivation to be the very best political firm,” Nahmiyas said.
